In 1989 the directors of Horma Pumps combined their efforts to accommodate the demand in servicing liquid ring vacuum pumps.
Through sacrifice and hard work, the company managed to broaden its presence at first in the mining industry and gradually throughout the vacuum pump industry.
The vertical spindle pumps were designed based on the need for heavy duty pumping. These units, proved to be very effective and efficient and the company established it self in the supply thereof.
The focus moved to increasing the efficiency of liquid ring vacuum pumps and a brand new range of Horma products were designed. These pumps were aimed at, or were even an improvement on the performance and efficiency of the equivalent competitor models.
Comparative refurbished costs of these pumps were also greatly reduced. Horma developed its own site-testing procedures for testing vacuum pumps and these have proved a valuable asset in evaluating the performance of a pump and the quality of the workmanship.
These results can then assist plant personnel in scheduling preventative maintenance.
